LANDSCAPE PAINTINGS

by Julia Woodhouse

About me..

After a foundation year at Edinburgh College of Art I then gained a Honours Degree specialising in clothing manufacture and built a career within the fashion industry. Now focussing on my true passions of painting and working with textiles for interiors.

Inspired by my surroundings..

I have lived for over twenty years surrounded by the stunning landscape of Calderdale, a landscape carved by glaciers that encompasses wooded valleys, tumbling streams and waterfalls, and rugged moors with big skies. With constantly changing weather, the shifting light and colours create unique perspectives throughout the seasons.

Mainly working with acrylics on canvas, I work to capture the light and textures of a scene so the painting can bring the beauty of our environment into our living spaces.

Special places..

Having grown up in Scotland I love to return and be surrounded by the open landscapes, from the Borders to the west coast and Highlands & Islands.

The sea, the hills, the weather are endlessly inspiring.
